Paddle Lake Johku – book online, get your door code, and go

Johku Outdoor rents kayaks, SUP boards and canoes as self-service from two bases on the shore of Lake Johku. Book online, receive a door code by text and email, and pick up your gear any time between 7 am and 11 pm. Want a guide? Choose a tour or a course.

Self-service, no queues

Choose your base, gear and time. After booking you get a door code by email and text message. The gear container has kayaks, paddles, life jackets and dry bags ready. When you return, put the kayak back on the rack and close the door. Self-service is open daily 7 am–11 pm throughout the paddling season, and in June and July it stays light the whole time.

Two bases, two kinds of paddling

From the Harbour base you paddle straight into the islands of Lake Johku; the nearest island is a 15-minute paddle away. From the River base at the southern end of the lake you head for quiet bays or drift down the start of Johku River. Both bases have single and double kayaks, SUP boards and canoes.

Guided tours from first-timer to overnight

The 2-hour island tour suits first-timers and families. The sunset tour starts in the evening when the lake calms down. On the day tour you go further and cook lunch over a campfire. On the overnight trip you sleep in a tent on an island. Guide, gear and safety equipment are always included.

Learn to paddle properly

The beginner course runs over three evenings and covers technique, handling and self-rescue. The rescue course is for paddlers who want to practise what to do after a capsize.

In winter, the same lake as ice

When Lake Johku freezes, Johku Outdoor moves onto the ice. Join a guided tour skating trip on the marked ice track between the islands, or rent long Nordic skates and safety gear for your own trip.
